Dr. Gary Jeffress Appointed Director of Conrad Blucher Institute at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi
Dr. Gary Jeffress has been appointed director of the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. 

Jeffress has been with A&M-Corpus Christi for 16 years, serving as a professor of Geographic Information Science and as the coordinator of the same program within the College of Science and Technology. The Blucher Institute now has three primary components, Academic Teaching of Geospatial Science, the Division of Nearshore Research, and the Texas Height Modernization Project.

Jeffress graduated from the University of New South Wales, Australia with a bachelor of surveying degree in 1978 and obtained his master’s from the University in 1987. After coming to the United States, he earned a Ph.D. in surveying engineering with a minor in economics from the University of Maine in 1991. Jeffress is a past president of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors.

While at A&M-Corpus Christi, Jeffress has served as director of the Division of Nearshore Research and he has been the principal investigator of the Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network and the Texas Height Modernization project. His appointment as director of the Blucher Institute became effective on June 1, 2006.
