Margaret Oliveira Dechant Named Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi
Ray High School Grad is Unofficial “Head Cheerleader” at Island University

For those natives who’ve known Margaret Oliveira Dechant since she was a young girl, it should be no surprise that the 4’11” dynamo is known on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus as the Island University’s “Biggest Little Cheerleader.”

Dechant, who was recently named associate vice president for enrollment management, is a home-town success story. As a member of one of Corpus Christi’s oldest families, she grew up in the Galvan House, the centerpiece of the City’s Heritage Park, and graduated from Ray High School where she was a class favorite, vice president of the student council and a cheerleader.

“Margaret’s knowledge and dedication to the University make her a natural for the position,” said President Flavius Killebrew. “I’m confident that her abilities will be a major asset in the University’s continuing goal of attracting highly-qualified students.”
