“Paying for College” Workshop to Provide Information on Financial Assistance for College
Workshops will be presented in English and Spanish

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in cooperation with The Sallie Mae Fund will host a “Paying for College” workshop on Friday, Jan. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Corpus Christi, 3902 Greenwood Dr.

The workshops will be presented in English and Spanish and provide information regarding the various resources available, including an explanation of the financial aid process, grants, scholarships, admissions, and state financial aid. A drawing for several scholarships will be awarded to eligible high school seniors.

During the “Meet the Professionals” segment students will have an opportunity to speak to professionals to learn about different careers.

Financial aid and admissions representatives from A&M-Corpus Christi, Del Mar College, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas State Technical College will be on hand to answer questions about deadline applications and scholarship opportunities.

Currently, 65 to 70 percent of the more than 8,000 students attending A&M-Corpus Christi receive some form of financial aid. Financial aid advisors stress the importance to knowing all the facts before making decisions.

The “Paying for College” workshop is free and open to the public. For more information, call Noe Ortega, financial aid outreach advisor at (361) 825-5741 or The Sallie Mae Fund at 800-292-0688 or visit the Web site.
