Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to Accept Students Displaced by Devastation of Hurricane Katrina Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi President Dr. Flavius Killebrew announced today that the University will accept both in and out-of-state students displaced by the devastation of the Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina. Killebrew said that the University will expedite the admission, registration and financial aid processing of students displaced by the hurricane. He also stated that students could be awarded emergency loans while their financial aid applications are being processed. These students will also be considered for scholarships that could waive out-of-state tuition. “Our sympathies and prayers are with the people of Louisiana and Mississippi who have suffered one of the worst natural disasters in our nation’s history,” said Killebrew. “The University stands ready to assist students in every possible way so they may continue their education uninterrupted despite the tragic circumstances.” Killebrew appointed Associate Vice president for Enrollment Management Manuel Lujan as the contact person for this effort. Lujan can be reached at (361) 825-5951, or by e-mail. |
