The event is free and open to the public. “Paint the Island Pink” is sponsored by the Women’s Center for Education and Service to educate students and the public about the importance of regular breast self examinations and early detection. Breast cancer survivors Cinda LeBus, director of education for Planned Parenthood of Corpus Christi, and Rita Rushing, visiting assistant professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, will share their stories. Dr. Yvonne Manalo, an oncologist from CHRISTUS Spohn Cancer Center, will answer questions from the audience concerning the disease cancer. Local cancer organizations will display materials showcasing the treatment, care and support options available for breast cancer patients in the Coastal Bend. |
