More than 1,000 children expected to attend annual Christmas Festival

Volunteers are needed for the 22nd  “Navidad de los Ninos” (Children's Christmas Festival) at the Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center (Garcia Center) on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The annual free Christmas festival for children and their families is co-sponsored by the Westside Business Association and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s College of Education.

Every year more than 1,000 children attend the event and are treated to a free photo with Santa, a small toy, and a bag of treats. There will be activity booths, music and entertainment provided by the Garcia Center’s Falcon Folklorico and hip-hop dance team Hyper Squad. There will also be drawings for boys’ and girls’ bicycles, Leap Frog games, and boom boxes.

Volunteers are needed on Friday, Dec. 2 to help with setup and on Saturday, Dec. 3 to help manage booths at the event. Volunteers are encouraged to wear festive attire and comfortable shoes. For more information or to volunteer, contact Christmas Festival Committee Chair Elizabeth Esparza at 886-6463 or Garcia Center Director Robert Garcia at 882-7837.
