Dance and Cultural Awareness Expo to Feature Performances of Traditional Aztec Spiritual and Sacred Dances The Alliance for the Advancement of Indigenous/Chicano Culture and the Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center, in conjunction with Taqueria Garibaldi, will present a Dance and Cultural Awareness Expo on Saturday, July 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature Danza Azteka Tlaloc, en Tejaztlan and Falcon International Ballet Folklorico. It is free and open to the public. Danza is a group established from the time of the Aztec empire that passes on spiritual and sacred dance traditions through generations. Enrique Maespas, troop leader and anthropologist, will explain the history and significance of each of the dances to the public. Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center is managed by the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi College of Education. Its program includes literacy and socially-relevant programs as well as arts education. The center services the Agnes area with education and art programs. |
