Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Homecoming Heats Up Friday with Sock Hop, Pep Rally and Lighting of the “I”
The 2005 Homecoming celebration at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will be in full swing Friday evening with two major events on tap.
Beginning at 8 p.m., the College of Education will hold its first “School Daze Sock Hop” Homecoming Dance for College of Education alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the College of Education. Guests are encouraged to wear their old letterman’s jackets and poodle skirts and dance to the music of the Doo-Wop group “Flashback.” Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.
Due to inclement weather, the annual Homecoming Pep Rally and the Lighting of the “I” will be held in the Moody Sustainers Field House beginning at 8:30 p.m. The Lighting of the “I” is an ecologically-friendly version of a bonfire. During the pep rally, the Homecoming Court will be recognized along with the Islander men’s and women’s basketball teams and coaches. School spirit will be provided by the University’s pep band, cheerleaders and “Izzy” the Islander mascot.
