Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Alumnus to Showcase the Documentary “Up Syndrome” The Department of Communication and TV-Film at Texas A&M University –Corpus Christi will showcase the documentary “Up Syndrome” on Wednesday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Corpus Christi Hall, room 118. The film was directed, edited and photographed by A&M-Corpus Christi Alumnus Duane Graves. In 2001, Graves received international recognition with the documentary “Up Syndrome,” which is a portrait of Graves’ boyhood friend, Rene Moreno, who was born with Down Syndrome. Graves has been surprised with the success of the film. It has allowed him to be in eight international film festivals and win three best documentary awards. Graves stated, “I think the best feeling is when Rene gets to come to the screening and hears the applause and signs autographs. He loves it so much, and it instantly justifies all the work just seeing him interact with the audience.” Graves and Moreno will be available for interviews before the show. Graves graduated in 1999 from A&M-Corpus Christi with a B.A. in Communications –TV/Film track. |
