Fifty-two Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Grad Students to Give Individualized Reading/Writing Instruction to Children
Five-week literature-based Boys and Girls Club program is in second year

Fifty-two graduate students enrolled in master’s level reading courses at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will be giving individualized reading and writing instruction to 52 children at the Corpus Christi Boys and Girls Club on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 12-13 at 4:30 p.m.

Over a five-week period the children will receive personalized reading and writing lessons. Each child will also receive two new books for their home libraries.

This is the second year that the University and the Boys and Girls Club have worked together to create a literature-based reading and writing program for area children. The project is funded by a grant from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation.

The reading and writing project was created by Dr. Marsha Grace, a professor in the College of Education, along with Anne Baker, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club, and Lisa Saenz, project coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club.
