NYTimes.com Editor to address Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Students in First-Year Learning Communities Program

Leonard M. Apcar, editor in chief of NYTimes.com, will speak to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi political science students in the First-Year Learning Communities Program on Thursday, April 7 at 11 a.m. in the Center for Instruction, Room 113. Apcar will address issues regarding the freedom of expression in the media.

Apcar earned a B.A. degree, cum laude, with honors in political science from Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, California in 1975 and received a M.S. degree in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 1976. Prior to joining The Times in 1991, Apcar was business editor for The St. Petersburg Times where he launched the paper's first daily business section. From 1976 until 1989, he was a staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal. While at The Times, he has served as assistant business and financial editor, enterprise editor, assignment editor and chief of correspondents.
