Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will Honor Students at Annual Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony

Awards highlight students’ role on campus

The Division of Student Affairs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will host the second annual Leadership & Service Awards Ceremony to honor outstanding students and student organizations on Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. in the University Center, Oso Room 221.

A&M-Corpus Christi students, faculty and staff nominated their fellow peers for various awards that highlight attributes such as campus involvement, volunteerism, and school spirit.

The Impact Award recognizes the efforts of a student who has positively impacted the university community via campus involvement, leadership, and service. It honors a student who has shown a commitment to A&M-Corpus Christi by making an identifiable contribution to the campus.

The Emerging Leader Award is presented to either a sophomore or junior who exhibits leadership ability in campus activities, employment, and /or volunteer service with the university. Other qualifications include persistence, team and goal orientation, and the ability to influence others for a greater good.

Spirit Award recognizes students who best demonstrate an extraordinary amount of school spirit and participation in campus activities. It honors students who are an inspiration to others in promoting pride in A&M-Corpus Christi.

Amigos de la Isla (Friends of the Island) honors one faculty and one staff member who have been a constant support to the Division of Student Affairs. The recipients have gone above and beyond their roles on campus to help the division accomplish goals and serve students.

Student organization awards include the following:

Program of the Year highlights a student organization program or event that is held on campus, open to the campus community, planned by students, and serves as a benefit to the university and/or students, faculty, and staff.

Student Organization of the Year award recognizes a student organization that engages in membership development, conference participation, organizational goal setting and achievement, fundraising efforts, and community service. The organization also promotes Islander spirit and campus involvement to members.

Advisor of the Year honors one student organization advisor for their energy, enthusiasm, and outstanding abilities that are the backbone of successful and dynamic student organizations.

The ceremony will also honor the recipients of the Student Employee of the Year Award, the Student Affairs Leadership Scholarship, and the Division Class Ring. In addition, student organization officers and advisors will be recognized for their contributions.
