The United States Coast Guard will conduct a search and rescue demonstration over Corpus Christi Bay for students of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 1:30 p.m. The students, ranging from kindergartners to 4th graders, will be given tours of the rescue helicopter after the demonstration.

The mock rescue is being staged to promote the start of the 2004-2005 “Partners in Education,” a mentoring program involving ECDC students and members of the Coast Guard. During the past year, Coast Guard personnel have volunteered their time to mentor the ECDC students. Participants in the mentoring program meet a minimum of once a week for one semester on the student’s campus.

This event is free and open to the public.
