More than 300 area teachers have participated in free program
The College of Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will
host a 10th anniversary reception to recognize sponsors, supporters and
Master Teachers of the “Teaching Environmental Science I and II” class
on Thursday, June 17 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Blucher Institute for
Surveying and Science, Room 101. In 1994, the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality working with University faculty established the courses to increase
awareness of environmental issues specific to this area. Supporters of
the program also include: the Port Industries of Corpus Christi and the
Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program.
The courses are offered to Corpus Christi and surrounding area public
and private school teachers to promote local resources available for
use
in the classroom and to promote a cleaner Texas environment through
the prevention and reduction of pollution. Since the summer of 1994 more
than 300 teachers have participated in the program. Tuition costs and
supplies for the courses are provided by the supporters of the program.
