Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi College of Business to Celebrate Completion of Renovations to Lindale Senior and Junior Centers

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s College of Business will celebrate the completion of their renovations and landscaping at the Lindale Senior and Junior Community Centers with a fiesta on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The renovations, a six-week project of Dr. Karen Middleton’s Leadership and Management Effectiveness class, were financed with more than $30,000 in donations and gifts-in-kind from local businesses and individuals. The fiesta will feature mariachis, karaoke, tamales, and more for the seniors and students as well as representatives from the University, the City of Corpus Christi and area businesses.

Improvements to the Senior Center included remodeling of the dining room, library, meeting room, pottery and pool rooms, patio and entry. Middleton’s 70 students also purchased games and a karaoke machine for the residents and decorated the Centers for the holidays.

In addition, the Junior Center received four computers with new educational and recreational software and a remodeled entry that includes bulletin boards and a large showcase.

The project, undertaken in conjunction with the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department, is part of A&M-Corpus Christi’s commitment to the American Democracy Project, which is sponsored by the American Association of Colleges and Universities and the New York Times. Its goal is to increase the number of college students participating in meaningful civic activities.
