Freshman Present Methods to Address and Solve Social Issues

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi First-Year Learning Students will showcase their work in the “First-Year Celebration” on Tuesday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the A&M-Corpus Christi University Center Ballroom.  Students will present projects created during the semester that focus on social issues and methods to address them.

The First-Year Learning Community is a program for all first year students that connects three or four specifically selected classes in groups known as triads. These classes form a community of students and teachers that promotes the success of the first year students.

Nine hundred students participated in this years First-Year Learning Community and many will showcase their projects that include subject matter such as violence, internet dangers and abortion. Presentations will be in the form of speeches, songs, films, websites and Power Point presentations. Booths will be set up for each project and students will present and be critiqued by their peers.
