Prior to the exchange, University President Flavius Killebrew and Del Mar College President Mark Escamilla signed the Memorandum of Understanding establishing the program which is designed to improve students' completion of associate's and bachelor's degrees, allows students accepted under joint admission to transfer from one institution to another, alternate enrollment between institutions, or enroll concurrently at both institutions. Students entering the program must choose and declare enrollment as a degree-seeking student at either Del Mar or Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and follow the core curriculum requirements of that institution. A reverse transfer program permits students who transferred to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi prior to the completion of an associate degree to transfer A&M-Corpus Christi course work to Del Mar to obtain an associate degree.
