Incoming Freshmen

 

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers a variety of academically competitive scholarships for incoming freshmen. As an incoming freshman, you may apply for 2010-2011 scholarships using the online scholarship application located on www.applytexas.org. Please note that the scholarship application process is separate from the online admission application process.

Priority deadline for incoming freshmen scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year is December 1, 2009. All applications received after this deadline will be considered on a funds-available basis.

Incoming freshmen will apply for the following programs described below by submitting the scholarship application at www.applytexas.org. These scholarships are open to all incoming freshman students and are not restricted to any particular college major. Decisions will be based on your academic standing, class rank, test scores, and enrollment in AP classes.

  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • Must rank in the top 15% of graduating class, or
  • Must score an 1100 or higher on the SAT (without writing), or
  • Must score a 24 or higher on the ACT
  • Must complete the Undergraduate University Scholarship Application
  • Renewed annually if student maintains a 3.0 GPA

PRESIDENTIAL FINALIST SCHOLAR

(3 new awards annually)

$4,000/year
Renewable for 4 years

  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • Must rank in the top 15% of graduating class, or
  • Must score an 1100 or higher on the SAT (without writing), or
  • Must score a 24 or higher on the ACT
  • Must complete the Undergraduate University Scholarship Application
  • Renewed annually if student maintains a 3.0 GPA

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

(15 new awards annually)

$3,000/year
Renewable for 4 years

  • Must score an 1100 or higher on the SAT (without writing), or
  • Must score a 24 or higher on the ACT
  • Must complete the Undergraduate University Scholarship Application
3.0 GPA

ISLANDER SCHOLAR

(8 new awards annually)

$2,500/year
Renewable for 4 years

  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • Must rank in the top 15% of graduating class, or
  • Must score an 1100 or higher on the SAT (without writing), or
  • Must score a 24 or higher on the ACT
  • Must complete the Undergraduate University Scholarship Application
  • Renewed annually if student maintains a 3.0 GPA

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

(100 new awards annually)

$2,000/year
Renewable for 4 years

  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • Must rank in the top 15% of graduating class, or
  • Must score an 1100 or higher on the SAT (without writing), or
  • Must score a 24 or higher on the ACT
  • Must complete the Undergraduate University Scholarship Application
  • Renewed annually if student maintains a 3.0 GPA

STUDENT LEADER SCHOLARSHIP

(10 new awards annually)
$1,000/year
Renewable for 4 years
  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • Must rank in the top 50% of graduating class
  • Must show leadership skills
  • Must complete the Undergraduate University Scholarship Application
  • Renewed annually if student maintains a 2.5 GPA

The top eight students will be chosen to compete for the Presidential Top Scholar. The Presidential Top Scholar is the most prestigious scholarship award offered by the University. It provides a $32,000 scholarship disbursed at a rate of $8,000 per year for four years to one outstanding individual. The top eight candidates will be notified by mail. The recipient of the Presidential Top Scholar is chosen through an interview process conducted on campus.

The Student Leader Scholarship Program was created to recognize and reward students who have demonstrated leadership qualities within and outside the school environment. Applicants must have a satisfactory conduct record. Number of awards are based on funding and may be subject to changes. Recipients are only eligible to receive one scholarship.
