President's Perspective

for the Momentum Campaign

Dr. KillebrewThe decline in state funding combined with the spiraling cost of providing students with a high-quality education is putting a financial burden on families throughout a nation already coping with economic hardships. More than ever, alumni and donors are essential to the future prosperity of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and our ability to provide students with a high-quality education.

It is clear from our discussions throughout the community that development of endowments for student scholarships and faculty research is a top priority. It is through endowments that Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is able to award scholarships to the best and brightest high school graduates and to attract outstanding professors, many of whom are among the leading researchers in their field.

And, with enrollment growing faster than ever, the construction of new facilities is also a high priority. For most of the 9,600 Islander students, the names on the buildings across campus are just destinations. But in a higher sense they are a chronicle of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s history—testimonials to the foresight of people who understand the critical link between an educated workforce and a thriving community, both economically
and culturally.

The University’s commitment to growth and quality has brought us a long way. However, to truly make the vision of Momentum 2015 a reality, we must invest financial and human resources while continually rededicating ourselves to excellence, engagement and expansion. With your support, we can say with confidence that at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the best is yet to come.
