Managing E-mail in Outlook: Computer Services will hold a training class Monday, May 19, from 9-10:30 a.m. in Corpus Christi Hall, Room 106. The class will focus on creating a spam rule to help manage spam messages, archiving e-mail to help manage a user’s mailbox size, and other tips. Islander Women’s Basketball Camp: The Islander women’s basketball staff will hold a day camp for girls in grades three to 12 from Monday, June 2, through Thursday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Moody Sustainers Field House. The camp will focus on improving dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive fundamental skills. Every camper will be placed in her age or skill level to develop personal growth. Registration is $130 for one person or $105 per person with a friend. A $50 deposit is due by Sunday, May 25. After the deadline, registration will be $140 per person. “New Small Works” Opening Reception: The Department of Art and the University Galleries will hold an opening reception for the “New Small Works” exhibition Friday, June 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the Islander Gallery, 4024 Weber Road in the Hamlin Center. The exhibit will present smaller works by A&M-Corpus Christi students and alumni, as well as local artists, and will focus on small works of various media created in the arts. The reception is free and open to the public. For more information, call ext. 2386.

All Skills Softball Camp: The Islander softball coaches will hold an all skills camp for girls ages 8-18 from Tuesday, June 10, through Thursday, June 12, at the Chapman Field. The camp will focus on improving individual batting, pitching, fielding and other fundamental softball skills. The deadline for registration is Sunday, June 1. Registrations are online only and can be found at www.goislanders.com under the camp section. The cost is $300 for resident tuition and $250 for commuter tuition, which also covers meals. Islander Cross Country Camp: The Islander Cross Country Camp for middle and high school boys and girls will be held from Thursday, July 17, through Sunday, July 20, on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus. Campers will learn the latest in running and training techniques, hydration, running footwear, analysis of form, pre-racing strategies and post-race evaluation. Registration is $300 for overnight campers and $150 for day campers with a $75 deposit by Tuesday, July 1. A $25 late fee will be charged for all entries received beginning Wednesday, July 2. College of Nursing and Health Sciences celebrating Nurses week: The College of Nursing and Health Sciences is celebrating “Nurses Week” and invites the University community to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s birthday Monday, May 12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Faculty Center atrium. Mac Town Meeting: A Mac Town Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 13, from 1-2 p.m. in the University Center, Dolphin Room. The purpose of the meeting is to bring the University campus community together in working with Macintosh and internet trends. Training and information about using Apple software and other types of applications will be provided. The meeting will be recorded and archived to mac.tamucc.edu to be viewed and downloaded using iTunes or other pod-casting software. For more information, call ext. 3202.

Spring 2008 Commencement: The University will hold its spring 2008 Commencement Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the American Bank Center arena. Commencement speakers will be A&M System Chancellor Michael D. McKinney and Elizabeth Benson-Landau, who is graduating with a bachelor of arts in sociology. Islander Orchestra Camp: The Department of Music will hold its Islander Orchestra Camp from Monday, June 2, through Thursday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts and Friday, June 6, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending with a concert at 4:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The camp offers middle and high school students the opportunity to perform in a string orchestra, receive instrument-specific training, and be exposed to chamber music and music theory concepts that will help them be well-rounded musicians. Auditions for skills placement will be held on the morning of the first day of camp. Students should bring audition music that demonstrates their technical and musical abilities. Islander Girls’ Basketball Summer Day Camp: The Islander Girls’ Basketball will be holding a summer day camp for girls in grades 3 through 12 Monday, June 2, through Thursday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers will learn skills from the Islander coaches and current Islander players and will receive a camp T-shirt and basketball. The fee is $130 per camper ($105 with a friend); $85 for faculty and staff. A $50 deposit is due by Sunday, May 25. After deposit deadline, there will be a $10 late fee. Islander Band Camp: The Department of Music will hold its Islander Band Camp for middle, junior and high school students from Monday, June 9, through Thursday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Center for the Arts. An end-of-camp concert will be presented at 5 p.m. Friday, June 13, in the Performing Arts Center. Students will participate in group lessons, sectionals, full ensemble rehearsals, and basic music theory, as well as afternoon activities and recitals. The camp is open to students with at least one year experience. Auditions for skills placement will be held on the morning of the first day of camp. Students should bring audition music that best shows their skills and musicianship. Registration, which also covers meals, is $295 for resident tuition and $200 for commuter campers through Monday, June 2. After that date, a late registration fee of $20 will be charged. Kritter Kamp: The Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest will hold a “Kritter Kamp” for children ages 7-10 from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20, at the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus. Campers will enjoy an entertaining environmental education experience inspired by science and art. Campers will use the sun to make nature art, become nature photographers, and go on a walk in the wetlands on campus. They will learn about the life cycle of butterflies, become environmental artists, and understand why recycling is so important. The cost is $100 per camper or $85 for the children of campus employees and students and military dependents. Registration is limited to the first 20 applicants, and 10 scholarships are available. Young Authors’ Elementary School Camp: The Department of English will hold its 16th annual Young Authors’ Camp for elementary students in grades three through five from 8:30-11:45 a.m. weekdays Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 27, in the Early Childhood Development Center. The camp, which will include visits with poets and artists, nature walks and uses of technology in writing, provides students with opportunities to expand their interest in writing and to experience writing as a fun and creative opportunity for self-expression and communication. The camp is limited to 25 students. Registration is $175 before Sunday, June 1. After the deadline, registration is $195. Solutions and Specialized Innovations Drum Major and Leadership Camp: The Department of Music will host the Solutions and Specialized Innovations (SASI) Drum Major and Leadership Camp from Monday, June 23, through Thursday, June 26, on the University campus. The camp offers current and future high school drum majors extensive training in conducting, marching fundamentals and leadership. Instruction will be provided by University of North Texas and Cedar Park High School staffs. The deadline for enrollment is Friday, June 13.
