I joined the University's Public Information Office in October 2003 and, since 2006, have been news-editorial manager in the Office of Communications and Public Affairs. As news-editorial manger, I'm responsible for the editorial content of several University publications including the semi-annual Islander Magazine, The President's Report, The Foundation Report and the monthly Coastlines electronic newsletter. I generate news releases, media alerts and other materials to publicize the University's programs, upcoming community events, student and faculty and staff honors and awards and other news items through an array of press releases, media alerts and other materials. I also set up television and radio interviews with University experts, special guests and media opportunities. I'm also responsible for compiling Campus Announcements and sending out Special Campus Announcements.

Born in Dallas, Texas, I spent more than 25 years as a sports and news writer/editor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Prior to earning my bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas in 1986, I also worked as a news, sports reporter and disc jockey in the Dallas and West Texas radio markets. From 1969 to 1972, I served in the United States Marine Corps where I saw duty in the Mediterranean during "Black September" (1970) aboard the helicopter amphibious assault ship USS Guam. I am the advisor to the campus chapter of the United Student Veterans Organization (USVO).

I enjoy football, baseball, politics, history and Rock 'n Roll.
