I am responsible for the creative print and digital design and marketing materials that promote the University. I create annual pieces such as the President’s Report, The Islander Magazine, Distinguished Speaker Series materials and State of the University pieces. I work with the colleges and departments in designing creative pieces intended to showcase their programs and degrees to encourage enrollment. I assist in troubleshooting IT issues within our department.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Minor in Journalism from Texas State University. I initially began my career in design and journalism in Corpus Christi right after high school working for the Foghorn at Del Mar College, there I won numerous awards and received a scholarship to work at the University Star, the newspaper publication for Southwest Texas State University. After pursuing some design opportunities in Austin and College Station I returned home to Corpus Christi to work for Driscoll Children’s Hospital in their marketing department. I introduced the now annual children’s calendar and created their anniversary logo, which is now currently used. While at Driscoll I received several Gold and Silver Aster Awards for medical marketing campaigns. I was later hired at the Corpus Christi Caller Times. I initially was hired as a Senior Designer and after winning several awards and assisting in streamlining internal process, which in included their prepress department I was promoted to Creative Services Manager. After several reorganizations I worked for a local printer and publisher as the Prepress Manager. I joined the University Marketing Department in 2013 and have enjoyed contributing creative new ideas to enhance the image of the University.
In my spare time, I enjoy riding my Harley Davidson StreetGlide, touring to several bike rallies throughout the U.S., and traveling with my wife and children.
