I am responsible for creating and capturing video imagery that promotes the University via television and on the Web, as well as documenting its continued growth and expansion. I developed and currently maintain the University's YouTube video channel, a first for the institution. I also use the Internet to stream live video coverage of important campus news conferences such as the Harte Research Institute's coverage of the Gulf Oil Spill Crisis. I'm also responsible for crafting radio spots for the University.
I've always wanted to work in a creative capacity using still imagery, audio, video and animation. While earning my Associate of Applied Science degree at Del Mar College, I worked at the local ABC News affiliate, KIIITV3 news station for 5 years, first as a studio camera operator on its number 1 rated 3NEWS First Edition morning show, then to operating audio for that show, finally to creating the station's high-end 3D animations that were used in all of its news cast opening sequences and special promotions. Working closely with the station's promotion and commercial production departments gave me a keen perspective for marketing and communications. During this time I also operated cameras at the Corpus Christi Cathedral for 3 years for its televised Sunday Services. I was also part of the inaugural media crew for the newly built American Bank Center. While there I provided live video playback on the arena's JumboTron as well as created numerous graphics and animations for the in-game events.
Another one of my passions is my love for music. I've been playing guitar since I was 15 and have been performing in local bands since I was 19. I'm currently playing in a band called LIBRA, which fuses Latin guitar sounds with world beats to create an exotic flavor that is both modern and old world. I also enjoy attending renaissance festivals, playing pool, reading, writing and meditating.
