I'm honored to tell the story of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to communities across the country!
As Director of Communications and Public Affairs, I enjoy hearing the many stories of excellence found in the classrooms of our five colleges and in the communities our more than 10,000 students serve.
Working with media partners and our experienced, skilled Communications staff, I share those stories along with the ground-breaking research at our nationally-recognized institutions. I continue my passion for telling stories after years of experience in the news industry. Most recently, I anchored a midday news program called "East Texas Live" on the NBC Affiliate in the Tyler-Longview area. As a Television News Anchor and Executive Producer, it was my pleasure to chronicle the lives of the people in several communities across Texas and Louisiana. While I spent lots of time researching stories, like the Texas citizens selling guns to Mexican drug cartels, and exotic pet owners who've made Texas home; I prided myself in coverage that kept people safe, like reports in Louisiana during Hurricane Gustav and the five hours of live television I anchored as Hurricane Ike hit Texas. I also spent three years covering the Dallas Cowboys at their Training Camp.
I honed my nose for news as an Online Editor at MySA.com, a news website for San Antonio. There, I covered breaking news events like Hurricane Katrina and the San Antonio Spurs 2005 Championship season. At heart, I'll always be the newspaper reporter that learned the ropes at the El Paso Times.
Although I was born in Monterrey, Mexico, I also call San Antonio home. I graduated from Business Careers High School at O.W. Holmes High School in San Antonio. My Bachelor of the Arts degree in English/Communications is from St. Mary's University. Con mucho orgullo, I'm proud to return to South Texas now and contribute to the community that raised me.
Con mucho gusto contesto mi teléfono en español también.
