us versus them."
"The English faculty rarely treated me as only a student;
they reinforced the idea that I and others in the program

| How
long will it take me to complete my degree? |
| |
If
you take 9 credit hours each long semester, you can finish
the program in two years. Many students, especially those
teaching full-time in the schools, reduce their hours fall
and spring, then take courses during the summer so that they
still finish in the normal two years.
We
encourage students who work either full- or part-time to take
a maximum of 6 credit hours during a semester. Less than 1/3
of students in the program take 9 or more credits per semester.

| Can
I apply with a BA in an area other than English? |
| |
Yeswe
have several current students who have done so. In addition,
we have students enrolled in our English courses from other
graduate programs in the University, including Education,
History, Psychology, Computer Science, Communications, and
Interdisciplinary Studies.
